We are very sad to hear the news today that Bryn has passed away suddenly after a short illness. We have many happy memories of our gigs at The Brook and our thoughts are with all his family, friends and the many bands and artists who have played there.
Mark said tonight “Extremely sad news as without Bryn the Pacs would not of had their 2nd spiritual home and one of the best run small gigs is the U.K.”
RIP Bryn
Via The Brook, Southampton
11th February 2017
It is with great sadness that we have to announce that Bryn Lewis, founder and creator of The Brook, died yesterday following a short illness.
As an established licensee in Southampton and following on from managing several successful pubs in the city, Bryn acquired The Brook in 1995 and transformed the original pub into the two tier music venue we know and love. He had a simple aim: to create a venue where people could have fun and enjoy live entertainment. Bryn conceived and generated a unique ethos and culture that will continue to live on and from which many, many people have, and will continue to, derive a lot of pleasure.
His long time friend and business partner Dylan will continue to manage The Brook with the new addition of Bryn’s eldest son, Nick, to build upon and continue his father’s legacy.
The Brook family, our customers, artists and their management will miss him tremendously and send their most sincere condolences and best wishes to Bryn’s family.
